The Big 3 Social Media Sites
CrossFit marketing is not something that you typically hear alot about. CrossFit marketing for your gym is something that you hear even less about. As a CrossFit gym owner you know how to coach athletes and you know proper mechanics for lifting, but what do you know about small business? and more important small business marketing?
This post starts part of a larger effort to begin talking about Social Media, Internet Marketing and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and how you can market your CrossFit gym effectively using tools and sites that you probably use most, if not everyday already.
Remember, there is almost no better advertising than word of mouth. The value of a friend influencing another friend to try your gym is pretty much priceless and one of your best converting methods of attracting new members. By using the sites people are already using and getting your members to interact with you on those sites, you reaching their friends as well and marketing to them without even trying. We’ll talk more about this as we go on with this series, but for now let’s go with a quick overview of what’s sometimes referred to as the “Big 3″ of the Social Media sites as well as several other social sites that your average user is using for information and research.
Big 3 Social Media Sites
- Facebook - For an example, see EveryLastRep’s page on Facebook
- Twitter - For an example, check out EveryLastRep’s Twitter Profile
Close to the Big 3 (more like part of the Top 5)
I would suggest visiting these sites if you aren’t already and take a look around and see what type of information is there and begin to brainstorm about how you can tap into that information to help market your business.
Before we begin marketing on these sites, we need to make sure we have a good base to market with, specifically you’re gym’s website. In the next post in this series I’m going to talk about what SEO is and isn’t and give you a few tips to improve your current website.
